Famora 1.3: your family assistant is here — and Famora is now on your wrist

One day after the big launch, we're following up right away: Famora 1.3 is here — and it's our biggest update yet. Your family app gets two things many families have been asking for: a real family assistant that takes tedious organizational work off your plate, and Famora right on your wrist — with dedicated apps for Apple Watch and Wear OS. On top of that comes a whole bundle of new everyday features included free in every plan. Let's take it step by step.

Let's start at the wrist. Famora is now available as a full app for Apple Watch and for Wear OS watches — your family is only ever a glance away, without pulling your phone out of your pocket. On the watch face you see the next appointment from the family calendar, and in the app, at a glance, who in the family is where: Dad still at the office, the oldest already home. With the SOS feature, one single tap reaches the whole family in an emergency — including your location. You speak voice notes straight into the watch, and they land in Famora as a message or a ready-made event. And the family compass shows you the direction and distance to a family member — handy at a crowded Christmas market, at the amusement park, or when you're looking for each other at the train station.

The second big theme of version 1.3 is the new Famora Assistant — a new tier of your family app that helps exactly where family organization really costs time. The Assistant isn't a chatbot that wants to talk; it's a quiet helper that gets work done. It can do five things at launch:

Multi-Scan: You take a photo of the letter from school or the notice from daycare — and Famora recognizes every date in it and, if you want, adds them all to the family calendar in one go. A single sheet with a field trip, a parents' evening and a holiday date becomes three ready-made calendar entries, without you typing a line.

Pickup Assistant: The eternal question "Who's picking up today?" is settled with one tap. Famora sees who's best placed according to calendar and location, suggests a person — and the confirmation is visible to everyone. No more group-chat ping-pong at 4:45pm.

Smart Brief: Every morning, and in the evening too if you like, you get a short, personal overview: the day's appointments for the whole family, what's coming up, what has changed — including the weather, so the rain jacket doesn't stay home again.

Conflict Solver: Two appointments, one car, both kids needing to go in different directions at the same time? Famora spots conflicts like these the moment they arise and suggests concrete solutions — such as moving an appointment or swapping the pickup.

Email-to-Event: Just forward the appointment confirmation from the pediatrician or the invitation from the sports club to your personal Famora address — the Assistant reads the email and turns it into an event suggestion in the family calendar. Forwarding is all it takes.

An honest word about this: the Famora Assistant is rolling out gradually. Not every family will see every feature right away — we're enabling them step by step, so everything works reliably before it reaches you. What you see, works; what isn't there yet, is coming.

And because a good update should belong to everyone, Famora 1.3 also brings a set of new features for every family, at no extra cost: The family chat has gotten prettier and now supports secret chats — private conversations that exclude individual family members, perfect for planning surprises 🎁 and birthday presents without the birthday kid reading along. The shopping lists have learned a barcode scanner: scan a product, and it's on the list by name. Added to that is the location reminder, which nudges you about your shopping list when you happen to be near the supermarket anyway. New home-screen widgets bring the family calendar and the lists straight onto the home screen of iPhone and Android. And voice input has become noticeably more precise once again — even with dialects, background noise and complicated appointments.

With all these new Assistant features, one thing stays unchanged: how we handle your data. Famora is and remains GDPR-compliant and is hosted exclusively in German data centers. Your location data is never processed by any cloud AI — the location logic runs on our own servers in Germany. And the Assistant never decides over your heads: every recognized appointment, every suggestion, every change is only ever proposed to you — a human always confirms. No ads, no tracking, no selling your data. Artificial intelligence doesn't change that either.
